Read Proverbs 2. Meditate on verses 4–5.
“If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.”
God enjoys a good treasure hunt. However, He perceives the reward as only half of the objective. The process that leads us to the reward is equally important. It is the phase in which we gain skill through exploration and active pursuit.
Wisdom is often not easy to find. It requires diligent search in non-obvious places. One way I seek wisdom is through the habit of reading a passage of Scripture each day. Proverbs is a good place to begin. As I read the passage and discover gems of wisdom, I gain an understanding of God’s character. I learn that He protects us from harm.1
He keeps us on track, so we don’t lose time in unproductive or meaningless tasks.2We come to know what pleases Him and how to solve problems in ways that are a win-win-win for God, others, and ourselves.3Our wealth is preserved through discretion, and we are preserved through divine understanding.4
We can apply the law of seeking and finding by simply asking for God’s direction. Sometimes He speaks to us through reading biographies, attending conferences, or by getting together with people to exchange thoughts or creative ideas. In all our daily activities, we can ask the Holy Spirit to help us find the wisdom hidden within every moment.
In my early twenties, when I first opened my automotive sales and service business, I decided I wanted to know what other local entrepreneurs had done to be successful and how I might apply their experience to my situation. I didn’t mind that they were from other industries, because I understood that the principles transferred regardless of market sector. I wanted to seek and find, as well as encourage them to do business with me. It was not uncommon for me to invite them to lunch. I asked questions. I placed my pride on my lap under the table, along with my napkin, and sought from them as much treasure in the form of knowledge as was polite.
Through the years, God has continued to bring individuals across my path. It has always been up to me to apply the law of seeking and finding to grow from the wisdom they share.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for helping me make seeking wisdom a daily habit. Thank You for teaching me the process I need to achieve the destiny You have placed within me. Thank You for the benefits Your wisdom allows me to enjoy when applying the law of seeking and finding.
